Villa Bahia is split across two restored colonial houses, connected by shared courtyards and a pool that gives the property a private, low-key feel despite sitting in the busiest part of Pelourinho. The terrace view over the old town is one of the better panoramas in the historic center, and the restaurant draws on both regional and international dishes for evenings spent in rather than out. Location is the other selling point: the Jorge Amado Museum, capoeira and samba schools, churches, galleries and shops all sit within an easy walk of the courtyards. Families travelling with children can arrange babysitting through the hotel directly, and an airport shuttle removes the need for a separate transfer booking on arrival.
